Socially anti-social

Ever feel like you can't keep up with all this social media?  I have like 10 separate things I have to tend to.  And I still haven't set up a Google +, which, by the looks of it, seems to now also be a necessity.  Seriously, it's a full time job being "social" on the internet!

Here are the 6 social media icons I made for my client, and there may be more to come in the future:

I'm happy to report that the photo shoot for the book cover went well.  I can't wait to see it all done up in it's post-editting glory.  I look back at all the stress I was feeling and I laugh.  But each experience is a learning experience, if you let it be.  I still have one more set of things to make for the client (who, by the way, is AWESOME)  and then I have other things to take care of.

My major freak out was that most (all) of the items were outlined.  And all quillers know how hard outlining is, right?  Making that paper stand on its edge is enough to make you pull your hair out. I almost did.  {Side note rant: Why is "quillers" still not recognized as a word?! - Hello, Google!!! }  But I did learn how to make it easier.  And I feel like I owe it to you to share.

In my case I was making individual objects that I cut out.  I wasn't outlining letters that were printed out.  (I can't even imagine how hard that is!)  So, after  many attempts I figured out that if you double the paper on the base layer, then you can rest the edging paper on that little edge and you have somewhere to glue safely with no mess.  I'm sure that official paper artists use super thick and awesome paper.  But little old me used plain old card stock.  It wasn't too thick and nowhere near as thin as a strip of quilling paper.  So by doubling the base layer then I had somewhere to rest the edging paper and place my glue.

I promise to share pics soon to further explain it.  It is super rainy/cloudy today so no pictures I take will be worth sharing.
