Love, Love, Love

I am not a celebrator of holidays of any kind.  But I do like how the next few days seem to make people reflect on the love they have in their lives.  On the other hand, I find it sad that people only reflect on these things a few days a year and that it's all dictated by the calendar and the media.

I used to reflect a lot on negative things.  And one day, while perusing etsy, I came across a blog of a mom who almost died in an airplane accident.  While she was in a really long medically-induced coma I sat down every day and read all her entries before her accident.  I saw how she loved her family and how the nuances of every day made her happy.  And, I thought to myself, "why can't I be happy?"  I may be sick, but I'm not dying and I'm not in a coma.  I have many reasons to be happy too. So, I started trying really hard to appreciate every day as it came.

I have lots of love around me.  I have an amazing husband. I have 2 beautiful (and crazy) kids and I have a few VERY amazing friends.  That's not to mention my family with my fabulous sisters and their (also crazy, and adorable) offspring.  I am so very thankful to be surrounded by love each and every day.  Even when things get rough, it's all about how we chose to see it.

For example...THIS is what I woke up to today (I'm calling it ice-pocalypse):

So, am I going to be all bummed out because it's really cold and icy out?
NO!  I'm gonna have some coffee:

And think about all of the love I have in my life.  Because:

AND

Don't you think?

I want to take a moment to thank everyone who participated and hopped along on Saturday's blog hop.  It was a great success just to be able to get a quiller from each continent and to see so many awesome projects and different interpretations of a super cool artform.  Thanks to Ann Martin for giving the blog hop a shout-out on her awesome blog.  I hope there will be many more blog hops and that quilling gets more and more recognition.  The fact that Martha has it as her craft of the day might be of some help!

Also (VERY IMPORTANTLY)  there was a quiller that was not on the hop list that should've been.  Getting everyone together for a hop with all the time differences was a bit of a challenge. Not to mention that there were also some language barriers.  Unfortunately, Linh was left out because I got her notification too late to add her to the list.  She deserves some love so please stop by her blog and leave a comment.  She is very talented and uses lots of beautiful colors in her quilling.

I hope you all stay warm and safe and have enough love to make your day SWEET!

This song came up as I was posting so I have to share it.  SO apropo!

P.S.  My friend at Cest la Vie Events is having a one-year anniversary giveaway.
Stop by her blog here to see her fabulous work and for a chance to win!

  5. @ Philippa - LOL! I'm staying away from the cupcakes...don't tempt me! Hey, interesting factoid: My Junior High School (where I learned how to quill) was named Philippa Schuyler. You are the only other person whom I have known to have that name.

@ Everyone - Thank you for your comments!
