You know how there are people out there that can tell you exactly what year and season a particular shoe or clothing style came out? Well, that ain't me! I have to admit that ever since I became a mommy, dressing up for me is anytime I put on stockings ;) But I respect that there are some women whose hobby is to follow designers.
I was asked to create a graduation card for a high school student. She loves fashion, and high fashion at that. Her favorite colors are cream and black....hello CHANEL!
I have to admit that I had to do a google search because Chanel is so far out of my price range that I don't even entertain looking at it. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the Chanel flower is a Camellia. THAT I know about! I actually just planted one in my front yard and it is blooming. SO gorgeous! I found these on the net as inspiration:
And this is what I came up with for the card. I used my handy dandy silhouette to cut out layers for the flower in varying sizes. I think it's really simple but really classy. I think that the quality of the paper makes all the difference. I had to hand etch the quilting effect on the cardstock. I messed another one up because my son walked in with an "urgent" question just as I was almost done. Hey, such is the life of a work-at-home-mommy, right? The envelope will be a plain vellum envelope because I think anything else will kill the simplicity of the card.
Looks great - I love those layered flowers!
